LynkUps — Terms of Use (Draft v0.1, en-GB)
⚠️ DRAFT for review by a qualified solicitor before launch. UK-first;
jurisdiction-specific versions are added as policy packs (see
docs/COMPLIANCE.md). This document is summarised in-app at signup; users
must actively accept it (no pre-ticked boxes).
1. Who we are
LynkUps ("we", "us") provides an app and website where people discover,
join and host local events. Operator details, registered address and contact
([email protected]) to be completed at incorporation.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or over. We use government-approved digital identity
services to verify age (see Privacy Policy §6). Unverified accounts have
limited functionality.
- One account per person; keep your credentials secure; you are responsible
for activity on your account.
3. Community rules (user-generated content)
You may not create events, messages or profiles that involve or promote:
illegal activity; violence or threats; hate or harassment; sexual services;
weapons or drugs; scams, pyramid schemes or unauthorised commercial
promotion; the exploitation of any person (see our Modern Slavery Statement);
or the endangerment of minors — minors are not permitted on the platform.
We use a combination of automated systems (including AI review of events and
chat) and human moderators to enforce these rules. We may remove content,
restrict, suspend or ban accounts, and where legally required we report to
authorities. You can appeal moderation decisions via in-app support.
4. Events — hosting and attending
- Hosts are responsible for the lawfulness and safety of their events,
describing them accurately (including cost, equipment and risks), and
complying with venue rules, licensing and insurance where applicable.
- LynkUps is a discovery platform, not the organiser of events and not a
party to arrangements between attendees; attend at your own judgement.
- Hosts may take an attendance register and must use report tools responsibly.
- Safety tools: report a person, event or message from any screen where you
see them; block users; contact emergency services first for danger.
5. Promoted events
Some events are paid promotions. They are always labelled "Promoted", are
subject to the same content rules and moderation, and are shown subject to
the same relevance and distance controls as any other event.
6. Cancellations & no-shows
Repeated no-shows or last-minute host cancellations may reduce account
standing and visibility.
7. Your content & licence
You keep ownership of what you post; you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive
licence to host, display and distribute it for operating the service.
8. Liability
Nothing excludes liability that cannot be excluded under law (including
death or personal injury caused by our negligence). Otherwise the service is
provided "as is"; our total liability is limited to the greater of £100 or
amounts you paid us in the previous 12 months.
9. Changes, termination, governing law
We may update these terms with notice; continued use is acceptance. You may
delete your account at any time in-app (see Privacy Policy for retention).
England & Wales law; UK users retain their statutory rights.
